Interim Project Leadership Case

The Beginning

Like a true Sixth Man™, we step in under pressure—bringing speed, structure, and executional excellence when the clock is running down.

The Beginning

A $3.6 billion healthcare enterprise operating multiple hospitals and specialty practices faced an urgent transformation. To support a new Electronic Health Record (EHR) rollout across 400 physician practices, leadership needed to build a high-performing implementation team fast. The internal IT department projected four years to complete the rollout—far too long for the organization’s operational goals.

The Complication

The project required 50 specialized Go-Live roles to be filled in just 60 days—a timeline that strained existing recruiting capacity. Traditional hiring channels couldn’t deliver the volume or technical specialization required, and relying on agencies would have added cost and delayed onboarding. Without rapid mobilization, the entire EHR launch was at risk.

The Change

Sixth Man™ stepped in to provide interim project leadership, designing and executing a high-volume recruiting plan built for speed and precision. We launched staged hiring waves, targeted healthcare-IT specialists, and managed end-to-end recruiting logistics. Every stage was optimized for velocity—screening, selection, and onboarding—all coordinated under a unified project management framework.

The End

All 50 roles were filled on time and within budget, saving approximately $500,000 in agency fees. Beyond the immediate win, the organization gained a reusable sourcing pipeline, scalable resourcing model, and process improvements later adopted by its internal IT recruiting team. Sixth Man™ turned a daunting deadline into a decisive victory.
